Pretty Good Books, a bookstore in LaGrange, is saying farewell to its Vernon St. location and hello to a new spot downtown.
The bookstore is moving to the former Covenant Presbyterian Church location on 118 Church Street, a location owner Joshua Rigsby said is much more convenient to his plans for the store.
“We’re excited to expand … we’ll have about three times the space we have now,” Rigsby said.
The extra space will allow for Pretty Good Books to offer more genres of books, plus allow for them to hold author events, book clubs and community groups.
An added bonus, Rigsby said, is that they will have a front row seat for the annual Christmas parade.
Pretty Good Books opened in December 2019, Rigsby said, and saw its fair share of trials and support when the pandemic hit.
“We had so many people buying our books online and buying gift cards during the pandemic,” Rigsby said. “They were saying they really wanted us to make it.”
Overall, Rigsby is excited for the chance to be more accessible to his customers in his new location, he said.
Pretty Good Books will be closed for the next two weeks as staff moves books and inventory to the new location. The bookstore will reopen in early June and have a grand opening a month or so after that, Rigsby said.
The store on Vernon Street is not accepting donations at this time but will accept empty boxes to help move books.
