The LaGrange Police Department investigated the death of a man killed in a motorcycle accident on Greenville Road over the weekend.

The victim was George L. Sheridan Jr., 57, of Troup County, according to William Jones with the LPD.

On Saturday, at approximately 2:20 a.m., LPD was dispatched to the 1900 block of Greenville Road in reference to a single-vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, officers concluded that the driver, who had been riding a motorcycle, had left the roadway and struck a telephone pole, Jones said. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Traffic Division was notified and is conducting an investigation.
