Kenneth Ronald Smith, Sr., 74 of LaGrange, Georgia went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 from Wellstar West Georgia Hospice.

Ronnie, as he was affectionately known, was born April 19, 1947 in the Abbottsford Community, son of the late Edgar Smith and Edna Vivian Noles. He was diagnosed at an early age with Polio, which paralyzed his right arm. Ronnie never let his physical setback hinder him from achieving every goal he set. He was a true example of an “Overcomer”, allowing his circumstances to motivate him rather than to hinder him. Ronnie was a life-long member and former Pastor in the Church of God and loved singing gospel music, he was the lead singer of the Ambassadors Quartet. He worked for American General Insurance Company for a number of years as a Staff Manager. Until retirement, Ronnie owned and operated Overbrook Insulation and Overbrook Motors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert Word Smith, Eddie Carter, Oliver Dean “Dickie” Smith, and Donald “Donnie” Smith; and a very special uncle, Calvin “Buddy” Smith.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 38 years, Lavada “Fay” Smith; sons, Kenneth Ronald (Debbie) Smith, Jr., Robert Lamar (Melissa) Smith; daughter, Ashley Nichole (Casey) Caldwell; seven grandchildren, Colby, McKenzie, Casey, McCord, McKayla, Colten, and Eli; nine great grandchildren; siblings, Diane Lane, Faye More, Judy Freeman, Ferlon Carter, Kathy Johnson; several aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The Gathering of Family and Friends will be Friday, July 23, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The Celebration of Life Service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2021 at City Lights Church of God with Rev. Ricky Lipp and Rev. Michael Caldwell officiating.
