The LaGrange Fire Department is hosting its 2021 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb Challenge Saturday, Sept. 11 at 8:30 a.m. at the LaGrange High School Sports Complex.
All participants will run 110 stadium steps up and 110 stadium steps down at the LaGrange High School Stadium, representing the 110 flights of stairs in the Twin Towers. 2021 will be the 20th anniversary of 9/11. During the event, radio traffic from 9/11 will be played.
LFD Chief John Brant says it’s important that the events of that day never be forgotten.
“We are just grateful that we can honor those brave men and women that gave their lives bravely on that tragic day,” he said.
“Doing this stair climb is just a small gesture to ensure their sacrifices are never forgotten. Brave men and women risk their lives every day to ensure the safety of others, and I believe this is one of the many events in which we can show our gratitude.”
The public is invited to join the LaGrange Fire Department for the 2021 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb Challenge.
The check-only entry fee is $25 and includes a 9/11 tribute t-shirt, which are in limited supply. To register for the 9/11 Annual Memorial Stair Climb Challenge, stop by the LaGrange Fire Department Administrative Building at 115 Hill Street in LaGrange. All the proceeds will go to the Terry Farrell Firefighter Fund, which was established to assist firefighters and families across the nation with financial, educational and medical needs.
