Earlier this week, we wrote a story about a bomb threat at LaGrange High School, which thankfully, was unsubstantiated.
The threat — as they always seem to be these days — was made on social media on a Snapchat account named “lagrangesucks.”
The LaGrange Police Department investigated the validity of the threat and is working to find out who is behind the posts.
First of all, we have no idea who posted this on social media, but we expect they’ll be found out and charged. They should be. Any kind of threat must be taken seriously, especially when it concerns the safety of our children.
These kinds of things tie up resources and disturb the peace.
Rather than investigating a crime, assisting with a wreck call or patrolling the streets, LPD officers spent hours clearing LHS and investigating a social media hoax.
We applaud the LPD and the Troup County School System for taking this threat seriously and ensuring the safety of our students. There’s nothing more important than that.
