COVID update: Wellstar caring for 56 patients

Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center is caring for 56 COVID-19 patients as of Monday, 51 of which are unvaccinated, per a Facebook post from the hospital.
A total of 18 people are in the intensive care unit (ICU), 16 of which are unvaccinated, and a total of 12 people are on ventilators, 11 of which are unvaccinated.
The Wellstar health system as a whole is caring for 594 COVID-19 patients.
Of the current cases, 524 are unvaccinated.
A total of 165 people are in the ICU, 151 unvaccinated, and a total of 135 people are on ventilators, 121 unvaccinated.
The Georgia Department of Public Health has reported 415 new cases of COVID-19 in Troup County during the past two weeks as of Sept. 17, pushing the county total to 8,199 cases. DPH also reports that the county has a total of 231 deaths and 42 probable deaths since the start of the pandemic.
