On Monday and Tuesday, The LaGrange Daily News partnered with The LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce for candidate forums regarding all of the upcoming local elections.
Both forums were streamed live on the LDN Facebook page. We are always more than happy to partner with the chamber for events like this, and thank them for allowing our platform to help spread the word and educate the public.
On the first night, an unplanned Facebook outage stopped the event from being “live” on our page, but it was posted that way on Tuesday morning. Who would’ve ever thought that Facebook would be down seemingly an entire day?
All of the local candidates had a chance to get the word out about their platforms. Candidates for LaGrange City Council, West Point City Council, Troup County Commission District 5, Hogansville City Council and Hogansville mayor participated in the forum.
We applaud each of the candidates who participated. It’s never easy to step into the spotlight and put yourself out there when it comes to running for public office. For the most part, candidates handled the questions they were asked very well and professionally.
Almost every candidate participated, outside of three candidates for West Point City Council, who had varying reasons for not being there.
If you missed the forums, we invite you to go back to our Facebook page and watch them.
They’ll also be available on the LDN website. We think the forums gave each candidate an opportunity to share their platform, show their personality and differentiate themselves from the other candidates.
If you watched, we hope you enjoyed something. If you haven’t watched yet, we hope you will before going to the polls.
