GRIFFIN – The Griffin-Spalding County School System Chief Finance Officer Byron Jones was elected to be on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Association of School Business Officials. He will serve a two-year term on a board of 14 board members from school systems around the State of Georgia.

Jones previously served a two-year term from 2017-2019 and formerly held positions as CFO in Meriwether and Troup counties.

GASBO comprises 180 school districts throughout the state and represents a membership of approximately 500 people.

There is an annual conference that was recently hosted in Augusta whereby the nomination/election took place.

“Without the support of GSCS Superintendent Keith Simmons, Board of Education members, my staff and my family this honor would not have been possible,” Jones said.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to represent a great community and staff. I look forward to providing resources and information to enhance our school system as well as working to improve processes for the entire state of Georgia.”
