1956-2021

Mr. Mark Alan Hamby, 65, died unexpectedly at his home in Fernandina Beach, Florida. He was born in LaGrange on July 29, 1956.

Mr. Hamby moved to Florida in the 1980s and became a successful businessman as well as a Master Landscaper. He owned his own landscaping business and employed over 100 people. He retired at the age of 55 to travel the world. At the time of his death, he owned property in Thailand, Costa Rica and the Philippines, as well as Florida.

Mr. Hamby suffered from lifelong severe depression. He fought every day to get better but his battle left him too exhausted to continue. His last written words were “I’m tired of running around looking for answers to questions I already know. I built a castle full of memories just to have somewhere to go.”

Mr. Hamby only wished to acknowledge the following survivors: His sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Wayne Parker of Land O’Lakes, Florida, Nephew Chris Parker and wife Tricia of NH, great-niece Alyssa Parker of Winter Garden, Florida, great-nephew Eric Parker and Lili of Winter Garden, Florida and great-nephew Alex Parker of Sanford, Florida.

A private Memorial Service was held on Nov. 14, 2021, and per his request, Mr. Hamby’s ashes were scattered in an undisclosed location. Anyone wishing to honor Mr. Hamby, please volunteer or donate to Prevent Child Abuse America.
