Nearly 30 citizens and city employees braved the freezing temperature Saturday morning to participate in January’s monthly Leaving LaGrange Better Than We Found It litter cleanup.
The group met in the parking lot of 118 Brown St. and picked up litter in the neighborhood of the new city park under construction at the intersection of Hamilton Rd. and Brown St. Roughly 70 bags of trash were collected, according to a press release from the city. This month’s community partner was the LaGrange Fire Department.
Other organizations that participated in this morning’s cleanup include LaGrange Youth Council, the Junior Service League of LaGrange and CORE Response.
These litter cleanups are always family-friendly, free and open to the public. The city provides safety vests, trash bags and gloves.
Three more city-sponsored litter cleanups are scheduled through April 2022:
- Feb. – Saturday, Feb. 5, 8-10 a.m. at LFD Headquarters, 115 Hill St.
- Mar. – Saturday, Mar. 5, 8-10 a.m. at Piggly Wiggly parking lot, 505 S. Greenwood St.
- Apr. – Friday, Apr. 22, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. City employees to pick up litter throughout the community.
