1940 – 2022

Mr. J.W. Andrews, 81, of LaGrange, passed away on Jan. 26, 2022.

J.W. was born on Feb. 29, 1940, in LaGrange to the late Hugh T. Andrews and Ila Mae Gasaway Andrews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Hugh T. “Bud” Andrews and Travis Lee Andrews; sisters, Christina Andrews and Bertie Mae Shelnutt; brother-in-law, Donell Whitley.

Mr. Andrews proudly served his country in the United States Army and retired from BellSouth after a career of over 30 years.

He was a faithful member of the Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church where he was a member of the choir and loved singing whenever he was called upon. He will be greatly missed by his family, church family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-three years, Sarah Henderson Andrews; son, Jeffrey W. Andrews; brother, Danny Andrews (Phyllis); sisters-in-law, Jeanette Whitley and Deanna Andrews; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand Chapel with the Rev. Colin Dacus officiating. Entombment will follow at the Shadowlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home from  noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be given to the charity of your choice in memory of Mr. Andrews. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers for the service will be Gene Hayes, Tom Turner, Ken Thompson, Sam Dunson, Wendell Lovvorn, Freddie Roberts, Curtis Pierce and Murray Schine.
