Aside from her family, nursing was Owen’s passion. She was also known for the way she made a difference in the lives of everyone she encountered. Owen will be remembered as kind, gentle, easy, bright, and beautiful. She was able to see the good in everyone she met and was never judgmental nor mean. She was never in a hurry and never forgot to make someone’s day a little brighter with her presence.
Owen loved her McLeod Scottish heritage, music, and flowers. She lovingly created many beautiful flower arrangements for people all over LaGrange. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a past member of the Ivy Garden Club, and a Charter Member of the Junior Service League of LaGrange. A Mother to Ida and Charles, and “Momo” to her five grandchildren, which were her pride and joy, and she was overjoyed to watch them grow and flourish until the end. Owen’s legacy is one of love, enthusiasm, and kindness that will live on not only through her children and grandchildren, but ultimately through everyone she knew. As in one of her favorite songs, “Call Me The Breeze,” she wanted everyone to feel “right at home” and because of Owen’s presence on earth, we live in a better world and do feel right at home.
