Callaway girls soccer team ekes out win over Temple

The Callaway girls’ soccer team eked out a 5-3 win over Temple on Tuesday.
The game was a back-and-forth affair with the Cavaliers striking first before Temple answered back with a goal of their own. The Cavaliers were able to grab a second goal in the first half to take a 2-1 lead into the break. The Cavaliers came out in the second half with a lot of energy and stretched the lead up to 4-1 before Temple got one back. The teams traded a goal apiece down the stretch.
The current LaGrange Daily News’ Athlete of the Week, Kate McAteer, was the star once again, scoring two goals and adding an assist to her tally as well.
Keeley McGuffin also bagged two goals and had six shots on target and three chances created as she was the engine that kept the Cavaliers moving forward.
Aylin Ulloa provided two assists with Mary Kate Boswell grabbing an assist on the night as well.
The Callaway goalkeepers combined to make two saves and conceded three goals.
The Cavaliers are now outscoring their opponents by 41 goals through the first 12 games of the season as the team builds on the best start in team history.
After getting defeated 10-0 by Bremen last week, the Cavaliers have rattled off two wins in a row. The Cavaliers next game is at home versus Bremen on March 11. Callaway is off to a blistering start to the season with an overall record of 11-1 and 2-1 in the region.
