Callaway’s baseball team picked up a dominant win over Landmark Christian 12-0 on Friday night.
The Cavaliers started the scoring early as they picked up a run when Andrew Locke crossed home plate on an error by Landmark Christian in the first inning. Bryce Hubbard grabbed an RBI in the first inning to give the Cavaliers a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning.
The Cavaliers added another run in the second inning when Jacob Karvelas hit a sacrifice fly to center field to drive Blake Sheppard home.
Sheppard got himself an RBI in the fourth as he got the bats rolling for the Cavaliers in the inning. The Cavaliers added three more runs in the third to take a commanding 7-0 lead heading to the bottom of the fourth.
The Cavaliers added five runs in the fifth inning and forced the mercy rule as they completely outmatched their opponents on the night.
Tucker Starling kept the Christian Landmark bats at bay as he put on a clinic on the mound for the Cavaliers. Through five innings, he only allowed five hits and struck out 11 batters.
Karvelas had a great night from the lead-off spot as he went two for three with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Justin Moore also showed up on offense as he generated three RBIs on a two for three night with a walk added in for good measure. Callaway climbs to 6-3 overall on the season and has yet to start region play. The Cavaliers travel to take on Westminster in a doubleheader on March 12.
