A man was shot and killed Sunday night at My Food Mart located at 404 Hamilton Street and the suspect has been arrested and charged with murder, according to a press release from the LaGrange Police Department.

When officers arrived, Dearko Thornton was suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was rendered aid and transported to Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Mario Alonzo Fannin was identified as the suspect and was arrested around 4:15 a.m. at 1401 Juniper Street.

Fannin was charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
