Justin Moore and Bryce Hubbard propel Cavs to big region win

Callaway dominated region foe Heard County 7-1 on Tuesday to stretch the Cavaliers win streak to six games in a row.

The Cavaliers started the scoring in the top of the second inning when Jacob Karvelas doubled to left field to score Houston Wilson.

The Braves struck back in the bottom of the third inning when they scored a run to tie the game at 1-1.

The Cavaliers regained the lead in the top of the fourth inning when their bats exploded for five runs in the inning. The scoring started in the inning when Karvelas doubled once again to drive home a run. Brantin Swanson followed this up with a two-RBI double. Bryce Hubbard stepped up to the plate with one runner on and two outs and promptly launched a moon shot out of the park to score two runs and give Callaway a commanding 6-1 lead.

Hubbard got another double in the top of the sixth to grab his third RBI of the evening.

Hubbard was the star of the show from the plate as he went three for four with one run scored, three RBIs, a home run and two doubles.

Karvelas also had a good day from the plate going three for four with three RBIs.

Justin Moore got the start on the mound and once again put on a show. He only allowed three hits with eight strikeouts in five and 2/3rds innings of work. Karvelas came into replace him in the sixth inning and pitched one and 1/3rd inning with three strikeouts and no hits allowed.

The Cavaliers are now 10-3 overall on the season and 4-0 in region play. Callaway is first in the region, but have yet to play the other undefeated team in region play, Haralson County. The Cavaliers have a rematch with Heard County on Friday as they are scheduled to host a doubleheader.
