1937-2022

Mrs. Annette Gaddy Oakes, 84, of Hogansville, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022, at Ashbrook Village Assisted Living in Villa Rica.

Mrs. Oakes was born June 27, 1937, in Coweta County, daughter of the late George W. and Minnie Lee Winslett Gaddy. She lived in many locations during her late husband’s 20-year Army career and returned to Hogansville in 1969.

She served as a caregiver to many members of her family and enjoyed gardening, raising many varieties of day lilies which she shipped to buyers across the country.

Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Oakes Lightsey and her husband Bruce Terrence Lightsey of Huntsville, Alabama; grandchildren, Caroline Jean Norris of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Amanda Sky Whitley of Seymour, Tennessee, Joseph Russell Lawson of Seattle, WA; great-grandchildren, Zachary Boggs, Kayleigh Boggs, Bradley Norris, Michael Norris, Christian Norris, Payton Norris, Dylan Norris, Piper Norris; and a great-great-granddaughter, Hinata Boggs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, CWO Lloyd J. Oakes (US Army,Ret.); sisters, Jennelle Holmes and Pauline Bowman; and brothers, Jimmy Lee Gaddy, H. W. Gaddy and Raymond Gaddy.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday, April 1, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville.  The Rev. Terry Rainwater will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., Friday.
