Mrs. Connie Virginia Nelms Davis, 74, of LaGrange passed away March 28, 2022.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday March 30, 2022, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Stutts Funeral Home with theRev. Lynn Janney officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will accept guests at Stutts Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service.

Mrs. Davis was born June 24, 1947, in Heard County to the late James Walter Nelms and Mildred Grace Toney Nelms. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.

She was a hard worker and was employed for many years as a waitress for Waffle House. She was known to be a free-spirited, independent woman.

Her grandchildren called her “Nanny”, and they were the center of her world. She was involved in all of their hobbies and school activities.

Survivors include: one daughter, Michele Davis Chambers (Tony) of LaGrange; three grandchildren: Justin Lewis (Shannon), Jordan Owens, and Madison Chambers; one great-grandchild, Laney Grace Lewis; two sisters, Kathy Nelms Pike (Larry) and Vonceil Nelms Kiser both of Franklin; and a number of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Francis Davis; one sister, Ann Nelms Powell; and three brothers: James W. Nelms, Jimmy Ray Nelms, and Thomas Eugene Nelms.
