Mrs. Goldie Burton Snellings passed away Friday at her home in LaGrange, Georgia.
She was born Dec. 22, 1926, in Opelika, Alabama; the first of six children born to George and Goldie Patrick Burton.
Goldie graduated from East Depot Street High School in 1944, and attended Cosmetology School in Atlanta Georgia, became a Licensed Cosmetology and private entrepreneur with a hair styling shop on the LaGrange Square.
She was also employed at City County Hospital as a Lab Technician; and also with the Troup County Board of Education.
Goldie has been an active member of Valley Grove Baptist Church for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Frederick D. Snellings, Sr.; daughter, Connie Lafaye; two sons, Frederick D. Snellings, Jr. (Evelyn), Benson L. Snellings (Gail); grandson, Ben Reed, Jr.; sister, Gladys B. Reed (Frank); three brothers, Fred G. Burton (Lutressie), George Franklin Burton (Edwina), and Andrew W. Burton.
Survivors include three daughters: Vivian S. Baskerville (Jesse), Thomasina Thornton (Harvey), Patricia Reed; son, Samuel N. Snellings (Nancy); brother, Alton L. Burton; several grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friend on Friday from 5 to 6 p.m.
The Service will be Saturday at noon. Both services will take place in the Chapel of Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home.
