The LaGrange Cycling Classic will once again race through downtown LaGrange in late April. Prior to the bike race’s return, the Downtown Development Association will need volunteers to assist with getting the event ready and to keep it going when it starts.

DLDA is looking to fill in several volunteer slots for check-in assistance and to assist in tasks such as assisting cyclists and spectators, setting up barricades, helping break down the race and other tasks before and during the event. The LaGrange Cycling Classic is the third race in the USA Criterium Speed Week Series, which encases an intense, competitive race on a closed-loop, multi-lap circuit criterium. This criterium race is part of Speed Week’s series of criterium events taking place April 22 – May 1, 2022, over the Southeast from Spartanburg to Athens, College Park and LaGrange. LaGrange’s race will begin Sunday, April 24, at 2 p.m. The event is expected to wrap up around 9 p.m. the same night.

The race first came to LaGrange last August following the event’s re-scheduling due to COVID.

The high-speed, multi-lap cycling race will take place on the historic streets of downtown LaGrange. This year’s route will be the same as the one in August, encasing, Bull St. and Main St. and providing access to the Overlook Plaza at Wild Leap Brewery. Several downtown streets will close in preparation to the event.
