Taste of the Town returns Saturday with a variety of local food and entertainment for the LaGrange community.

For the first time, the event will be collaborating with the Hillside Festival, bringing the best of both festivals together. The Junior Service League organizes the Taste of the Town Festival each year, and this year’s festival will benefit the Exceptional Way, which provides individuals with disabilities the social and recreational activities they require to promote healthy living, support social relationships, improve life skills and foster community involvement.

The festival and entertainment will be specifically located in the historic Hillside area of town along Lincoln Street, Jefferson Street and Garfield Street. Numerous food trucks will be taking part as well. The event opens up at 4 p.m. and continues until 8 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged.

Nicole Spivey, chair of the Taste of the Town event, said she wants to “encourage everyone to see the revitalization by DASH (Dependable, Affordable, Sustainable, and Housing neighborhood revitalization) in the Hillside area.”

The goal that the event has in mind is to bring families and friends closer together by means of various foods, local art and music.
