Since it’s in Lanett, Alabama, many in LaGrange probably don’t know that Springwood School named a new headmaster on Wednesday.
While it is technically in Alabama, several LaGrange students attend Springwood and the school usually has a few graduates from Troup County each year, so it is significant that the headmaster position has changed.
Springwood named Dr. Kim Baylis as the new head of school.
Baylis has been on staff with Springwood since July, serving as the school’s Director of Academics.
Baylis said she is ready to hit the ground running this summer and plans to focus much of that time on accreditation and preparing for the 2022-23 school year.
It is never easy transitioning from one administrator to the next. Many things change, including an overall philosophy on how things should operate.
Baylis has her work cut out for her as Springwood is not your run-of-the-mill private school. Not only does it educate approximately 300 students, but the school is also most known for its growing international program that currently hosts 34 students from nine different countries.
Springwood’s goals are to prepare today’s students for jobs that have yet to be created, using technology that has not been invented, to solve problems that have yet to be identified.
We want to wish Baylis the best of luck in her new role as head of school and offer our congratulations.
We look forward to watching and reporting on the continued growth and success of Springwood.
