A new book about the Hamilton Road neighborhood is the topic of the next Friends of the LaGrange Memorial Library’s Author Talk.
Felecia T. Moore will discuss ‘’Time for a Haircut, a Walk Through the Historic Hamilton Road Neighborhood in LaGrange, Ga.’’ at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the library’s temporary location at 535 Park Ave., the former Unity School building.
Moore, the archives specialist at LaGrange College, wrote and illustrated the book. She said chatting and getting to know people has always come easy for her. The ability to make people feel comfortable came in handy when she began her journey as an oral historian, she said.
Moore’s interviews with family have led to two family history books and the documentation of LaGrange College’s history through the eyes of its faculty, staff, students and alumni from the past 50 years, while working at the college’s Suber Archives.
Her artwork received the attention of art juror Daricia Mia DeMarr, who chose Moore’s painting ‘’Hot’s Barbershop’’ to be part of the 2022 fourth LaGrange Southeast exhibition at LaGrange Art Museum and Lamar Dodd Art Center in January. The merit award winner is displayed at the LaGrange Art Museum.
Moore is married to Jerome Moore and has two daughters, Jessica and Whitney Moore. A book signing will follow Thursday’s program, which is sponsored by Friends of LaGrange Memorial Library. It is free and open to the public.
