WEEKEND TICKET: Art festival, R&B concert to highlight weekend

The first annual We Heart the Arts festival at Troup High School will be one of the main go-to’s this weekend in LaGrange.
With a warm weekend ahead, there are plenty of other activities to be had.
The festival, which will take place at Troup High School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, will feature a number of activities including a car show, a silent auction, a pet show, food trucks, and several arts and crafts vendors. Admission to the festival is $1 and can be paid upon arrival. All proceeds will go to supporting the Troup High Drama program and funding next year’s festival.
Also on Saturday, Danielle Thorne will speak on her new novel, A Promise for His Daughter, at Pretty Good Books at 1 p.m. Thorne is a romance author from Atlanta.
The Troup–Coweta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will host its sixth annual Bow Ties & Pearls “An Evening of R&B and Soul” at Sweetland Amphitheatre on Saturday at 6 p.m. The performance will feature R&B and soul groups such as Soul Therapy, Shantavia Nichole & The Brown Sugar Experience and The PR Experience.
