1940-2022

Eugene (Gene) Franklin Knight, 81, passed peacefully into eternity on March 24, 2022 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia with his family by his side.

He was born on August 17, 1940, to parents, Rev. Jesse Frederick Knight and Angie Dollard Bass Knight in LaGrange, Georgia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jesse Fred Knight, Jr.

He loved the tranquility of the mountains in Rabun County, Georgia.

He was a member of Clayton Baptist Church where his father occasionally preached. Gene retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company with 30 years of service, where he worked his way from installer to into management.

Gene loved to build things ranging from homes to furniture. He also enjoyed gardening, but his true passion was cooking for his family.

Gene is survived by his wife of 33 years, Alice Knight; three children, Suzanne Knight Fralish (Kevin) of Leesburg, Georgia, Jennifer Knight of Wendell, North Carolina, and Greg Lappe (Cynthia) of Buford, Georgia; four grandchildren, Joshua Fralish (Kari), Andrew Fralish (Lindsey), Matthew Fralish (Hannah) and Jordan Lappe. Three great-grandchildren: Ryleigh Fralish, Carter Fralish and Myles Fralish.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022, at Hillview East Cemetery in LaGrange, Georgia at 11 a.m.
