Comedian Ron White has said that 2022 is his last year doing stand-up comedy, and if he holds true to that, one of his final stops will be in LaGrange.
Sweetland Amphitheatre announced Friday that White, known as a classic storyteller, will be at the venue on Oct. 9. White, formerly of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, is known best for his comedy routine that involves a joke where he refers to himself as “Tater Salad.” Over the past nine years, he has been one of the top three grossing stand-up comedians on tour in America, according to a press release from Sweetland.
During this time, all four of his comedy albums have charted No. 1 on the Billboard TM Comedy Charts.
“Sweetland is extremely excited to host Comedian Ron White. For the first time ever we are hosting a comedian at Sweetland,” said Katie Mercer Van Schoor, City of LaGrange Marketing/Communications Manager.
“It’s exciting for us to book Ron White because earlier this year White announced he is retiring from stand-up comedy at the end of 2022. We are so happy to offer to our community possibly one of the last times to see Ron White in person doing standup. We’re excited about ending our season on such a high note!”
He is a three-time Grammy-nominated comedian, and has sold over 10 million albums (Solo/Blue Collar Comedy Tour). This is the first time Sweetland, which has featured musical acts of all types of genres, has brought in a comedian.
White told the Atlanta Journal Constitution in January that he is retiring at the end of the year.
