Dr. Sybil Robison Allen of LaGrange, Georgia, died on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at her home.
Dr. Allen was born in Columbus, Georgia, on Oct. 30, 1927, daughter of the late Charles and Clara Fincher Lewis.
Dr. Allen was educated at Troy State University, Auburn University, the University of Missouri, and the State University of New York at Buffalo. She was an educator in Alabama, New York and Georgia and was an educational consultant for school systems throughout the United States. Dr. Allen retired from LaGrange College after 19 years as a Professor in the Education Department. She traveled extensively, visiting all the states in the United States and many countries on six continents. Dr. Allen was a member of the Phi Delta Kappa and ODK honor societies and also had been a member of the following organizations: DAR, UDC, USD of 1813k NSSDP, the Round Table, LaGrange Woman’s Club, Troup County Historical Society and a member of the KYB class of First Presbyterian Church, and held offices in several of these organizations.
In addition to her parents, Dr. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Loyd Robison, her second husband, Nick Allen of LaGrange, and her son, Michael Robison.
Survivors include her children, Melissa Ham (Jack) of Birmingham, Alabama and Cindy Green (Ken) of LaGrange, Georgia; grandchildren, Mitch Green, Melanie Taylor, Mason Green, all of LaGrange, Georgia and Katherine Ham of Birmingham, Alabama; and great-grandchildren, Peyton Green, Wyatt Mitchell Green and Blake McClendon.
A private memorial celebration will be held at a later date.
