The Troup Tigers boys basketball team got a summer sendoff after a tough June. The team took part in summer camps across Georgia and Alabama as well as practiced multiple days of the week to get ready for Jairo Jay’s first year in charge of the boys basketball program at Troup.
Last Thursday, there was food, fun and laughter as the Tigers players got a day to celebrate after their final summer camp in Lanett was canceled. The celebration also included dodgeball and a three-point contest between coaches and players and the day culminated in the always welcome pizza party.
After a 4-17 season last year, the Tigers will be looking to be much improved this season. The first step for a new coach is to build trust and camaraderie between players and coaches and Gay is well on his way to doing so. Now comes a summer break for the players as the teams take July off. The Tigers will be back to action in November when their 2022-23 season kicks off. Troup will be in a new region so will have a litany of new faces to contend with.
