The Kiwanis Club of LaGrange recently presented the West Georgia Technical College with $10,000.
Funds received from this award will be allotted for both the Kiwanis Johnson-Frear Endowment, which supports the Foundation’s Gap Funding Program for LaGrange students and a new scholarship.
“We are so grateful and thankful for the partnership we have with the Kiwanis Club of LaGrange and their continued investment in the students of WGTC,” Foundation Executive Director Brittney Henderson said.
The Kiwanis Johnson-Frear Endowment is named for two Kiwanians who funded the effort through the club’s annual clay shoot tournament. The WGTC Foundation’s Gap Funding Program fills the financial gaps in a student’s ability to pay his or her tuition or fees owed to WGTC.
The new scholarship will be awarded to students who are veterans, first responders and their family members. The Foundation will be working closely with the Kiwanis Club of LaGrange and Mr. Charlie Frear to establish the guidelines and parameters of the scholarship. Applications and more information for this scholarship will be available in the Spring of 2023.
“We’re looking forward to retaining and changing the lives of more WGTC students,” Henderson said.
