Faith Horton threw a perfect game to help propel Troup to its fourth straight win of the season on Tuesday. The Tigers blitzed Riverdale early en route to a 22-0 win that ended after three innings.

Horton went all three innings and got nine outs in just 39 pitches. She struck out eight of the nine batters she faced. Horton was dominant on the mound and proved just as good offensively in the game. She 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored.

Riverdale could get preciously little going on offense or defense as the team committed eight errors to go along with their zero hits.

The Tigers took a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Patience Watkins hit a two-out RBI single. Troup’s offense exploded for 11 runs in the second inning with all of them coming with two outs. The Tigers added an additional 10 runs in the third inning to finish the game.

There were quality performances all the way down the order for the Tigers’ offense. Watkins was one of the standouts with her 3-for-4 three RBI and two runs scored day. Kaleigh Rutland tied Watkins with the team lead with three RBIs as she went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Caroline McInvale got the start and went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Anna Grace Keller came off the bench and went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Most of these girls are not regular starters as coach Ryan Simpson was able to make some changes against an inferior opponent.

Troup improves to 6-1 on the season and 2-0 in the region. The Tigers are scheduled to take on Heard County on the road on Wednesday before diving back into region play with a game on the road at Whitewater on Thursday.
