Country music artist Jimmie Allen will be performing at Sweetland Amphitheater on Friday.
“We are very excited to have Jimmie Allen perform at Sweetland,” Marketing and Communications Manager Katie Van Schoor said. “It’s no secret his star is rising and his shows are amazing. He has a strong following from American Idol and continues to rise through the country music ranks.”
In 2021, Allen made history for his win for New Artist of the Year at the Country Music Association Award.
He is the second African American artist to do so after Darius Rucker won in 2009.
Allen is signed to BBR Music Group’s Stoney Creek Records, home to fellow artists Jason Aldean, Dustin Lynch and Billy Ray Cyrus. Allen’s music is known for taking the genre of country music and putting a R&B twist on it.
If not from Allen’s hit songs, “Best Shot,” and “Make Me Want To” from his debut album Mercury Lane, you’d probably recognize him from on Season 10 of American Idol.
“Best Shot,” went on to go 2x Platinum and claimed the number one spot on Country Radio for three weeks. “Make Me Want To” Allen’s second charting hit that went platinum.
According to his website, at the beginning of this year, Allen headlined his first tour called the Down Home Tour 2022. Starting this fall and through spring 2023 Allen will join Carrie Underwood’s The Denim & Rhinestones Tour as special guest on all of her 43 U.S. arena dates.
As he gained more momentum in his career, Allen would go on to be nominated for Best New Artist at the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards, Male Artist of the Year nominee at the 57th ACM Awards and Outstanding New Artist nominee at the 53rd NAACP Image Awards.
“Sweetland still has tickets available. We will have a pit area for this particular show so, we expect to have a high-energy concert,” Van Schoor said.
