The Junior Service League of LaGrange will host its 48th annual attic sale fundraiser on Oct. 1.

Each year, the Junior Service League (JSL) holds its annual attic sale to fund the service work it does for the community throughout the year.

The local JSL spends the entire year collecting donations from members of the community and businesses around town for the annual sale, which helps pay for their many projects.

“It’s essentially the biggest yard sale in Troup County,” said JSL Attic Sale Chair Kelsey Sweet.

The attic sale will have several sections. There will be a general section with everything that you would find at a yard sale, a boutique section that features items donated by local boutiques, a furniture section and a children’s section.

A pre-sale will be held on Friday, Sept. 30 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. before the main sale for $5 admission. Early birds can also get in 30 minutes prior to the main sale on Oct. 1 for $5. The regular sale starts at 8:30 a.m. and admission only costs $1.

Sweet said they will actually have three sales throughout the day with increasing discounts.

“We do the normal sale everything is sticker price and then at some point in the day, we send everyone out and then we’ll let everyone back in for a half-price sale,” she said.

The event will end with a cleanout sale, which is new for this year.

“This year, we are featuring a cleanout sale, which you pay $20 at the door and you can walk out with any item except for furniture, but furniture will be deeply discounted,” Sweet said.

The proceeds from the sale go to fund JSL service projects and community donations.

“All of the proceeds from attic sale go to fund the league throughout the year and all of that money gets poured back into the community,” Sweet said. “We do community service projects throughout the community, mini-grants and other activities hosted by the league.”

Sweet encouraged people to come out to the presale to get the first chance at all the great items.

“A lot of people that come for the presale because they want to get first dibs on all of the good stuff that we get,” she said. “There’s a lot of people that come that are looking for antiques, and they can spot all of these treasures that are in there.”

Sweet said they get many of their items donated from estate sales or families that are downsizing.

“You’re able to get stuff that is incredibly deeply discounted, so we normally have a good turnout,” Sweet said.

The JSL Attic Sale will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1, starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Callaway Conference Center at 220 Fort Dr. in LaGrange.
