Each October, the Junior Service League of LaGrange holds its annual Attic Sale to raise money to support the good work it does in the community throughout the year.

If you’ve never been to the Attic Sale, we recommend giving it a go either Friday night at the pre-sale or Saturday during the regular sale. It’s essentially a gigantic yard sale, filled with goodies that the JSL has worked hard to collect throughout the year.

Typically, there are tables full of kids’ toys, clothes, lamps, picture frames, board games and bikes, just to name a few things. If you can think of it, it’s probably there.

Like most nonprofits in our area, the ladies of the JSL work extremely hard. It’s the JSL that puts on the annual Sweet Land of Liberty parade on the Fourth of July.

It’s not a big group, but the more than 100 retired service league members and dozens of active members find ways to make an impact on our community each year.  It’s important to remember that the Attic Sale is the biggest fundraiser the JSL holds all year long, and the money raised stays in LaGrange and Troup County through local organizations.

The sale opens for a pre-sale on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., but there will be a $5 admission charge, and the items will be price and a half. The sale starts again at 8 a.m. Saturday morning for a pre-sale, again with a $5 admission fee.

A pre-sale will be held on Friday, Sept. 30 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. before the main sale for $5 admission. Early birds can also get in 30 minutes prior to the main sale on Oct. 1 for $5. The regular sale starts at 8:30 a.m. and admission only costs $1.

The JSL Attic Sale will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1, starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Callaway Conference Center at 220 Fort Dr. in LaGrange.

We ask that you support the sale, and the JSL, so that the group can continue its work in our community.
