It was an absolute war for LaGrange in its second game of the super regional. The Grangers ended up losing a 4-3 heartbreaker after letting an early lead slip away.

The Grangers jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Hudson Wood hit an RBI single to get the scoring rolling followed by a Carolyne Garcia RBI double. Garcia scored later in the inning to make it 3-0.

The Syrupmakers chipped into the lead with a run in the bottom of the second before tying the game with two more runs in the third inning.

The Grangers had a runner in scoring position in the third, fourth and fifth inning, but could not capitalize and take the lead.

Cairo was able to capitalize and take the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning.

LaGrange had a chance to answer back, but once again left batters stranded. The Grangers had two runners on base with no outs in the top of the sixth and once again came away with no runs to show for it.

LaGrange actually out-hit Cairo 9-6 in the game, but could not come up with a timely hit after the first inning.

It was a herculean effort from Zoe Thompson on the mound who started the Grangers game earlier today and pitched a complete game shutout. She once again got the start on Tuesday against Cairo and pitched six innings while allowing just six hits and four earned runs.

Offensively, Kaylee Bryant was solid once again, going 2-for-4. Joining her in the multi-hit department was Harlee Overton who went 2-for-3 in the game. Kimberly Reynolds, Abby McGill, Tatiana Dudley, and Garcia all had a hit apiece for the Grangers.

LaGrange will play again on Wednesday at 10 a.m. versus Islands who they beat 7-0 in the opening game of the super regionals. A win by the Grangers would send them to the finals against Cairo.
