Pleasant Grove Community Church is set to host the 42nd annual Quilters Bazaar and Quilt Show on Saturday, Nov. 5.

The Pleasant Grove quilters hold the event each year to promote fellowship within the community and to show off the goods of local crafters and cooks.

There will be plenty of delicious food available starting with breakfast sausage and biscuits at 8 a.m. Later in the day, visitors can partake in homemade soup, cornbread, barbecue, stew and fried pies, or just take some home for later with other locally-canned goods.

The quilters raffle off a beautiful handmade quilt each year with proceeds going to help pay for projects that the church supports, including missionary work.

Carol Cadenhead said they usually sell about 2,000 raffle tickets. Tickets are $1 each and the drawing is held at the end of the show at 2 p.m. The winner does not have to be present to win.

The annual handmade quilt is often a sought-after prize as each is unique and represents countless hours of work. The church quilting group meets weekly, and it took them months to complete it.

Other quilters will bring their creations for display in a quilt show inside the church. More than 30 quilts are planned to be on display. Outside, the bazaar will feature vendors selling crafts, baked treats, locally made canned goods and other items. About 12 vendors have signed up for booths so far, but Cadenhead said spots are always available.

The Quilters Bazaar and Quilt Show will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Community Church at 170 Pleasant Gove Church Rd. in LaGrange. For more information or to sign up for a booth, call (706) 884-5546.
