Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Friday was not the night the Lafayette Christian football team was expecting when they traveled to Albany to take on Sherwood. The Cougars ended up getting battered 63-18 as little went right for the Cougars.

Sherwood scored 35 unanswered points to start the game. The Cougars had little going right on offense or defense but were able to get on the board late in the first half on an 85-yard touchdown pass from Andrew Hough to Ephraim Snyder. Snyder had to carry the offense and was able to get the Cougars second touchdown of the game on a 12-yard touchdown run after a big kickoff return from Cal Evert.

The Cougars went into the break trailing 49-12 and had little room for a rally.

The rally was not in the cards for the Cougars, who struggled mightily in the second half as well. Brandon Davenport got the only score of the second half for the Cougars on a 30-yard touchdown run.

Lafayette Christian fell to 6-3 overall. The Cougars still have it all to play for as a win over Unity in their home turf next Friday would send them to the playoffs and depending on how other results shakeout, it is possible they can claim a region title as well.
