As the holiday season approaches, The Local Chiropractic has begun its second annual Season of Giving. This annual event partners with the LaGrange Personal Aid to provide meals for families in need.

Dr. Lindsey Robinson said the event started as something she did on her own during the pandemic in 2020.

“The LaGrange Personal Aid was doing it, so, I went and bought all the stuff and told other people I’d buy stuff for them if they wanted me to,” Robinson said. “Last year was our official year of doing it.”

Robinson said this year’s goal is to provide meals for 100 families in Troup County for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

As of the time of writing, the benefit has been able to feed 65 families in Troup County.

The food boxes include 26 items filled with Thanksgiving and Christmas staples such as stuffing/dressing mix, cranberry sauce, green beans and macaroni and cheese.

This year the event will work a little differently, Robinson said.

“Last year, we took donations and money. So, if they wanted to do the shopping or give us the money and we do the shopping, they could,” Robinson said. “This year we’re only getting money because we put in a huge bulk order with Publix and their manager Daniel Smith, who helped us last year.”

Robinson said this year her husband and father will go pick up the pallets of food, and afterward they all will pack the boxes together on Saturday, Nov 12. From there, they will deliver the boxes of food to LaGrange Personal Aid.

For those interested in helping pack the boxes, Robinson said volunteers can show up at 10 a.m. in front of her office on Nov. 12.

“Last year, it was very overwhelming how people from the community came together,” Robinson said. “Even though we’re the ones organizing everything, it was truly the individuals from the community making it happen.”

For those interested in donating, $34 covers the price of one family meal box. The donations are due by Friday, Nov. 11 and the packing event and box delivery will take place on the morning of Saturday, Nov. 12.
