Police are investigating an armed robbery that allegedly occurred outside the Love’s Travel Stop on Bass Cross Rd. in Hogansville Thursday night.
Hogansville Police first became involved with the incident when they received information from 911 that a person was following a vehicle on Interstate 85 after being robbed at the truck stop.
The 911 caller said they had met with the vehicle for an online transaction to purchase tools from individuals from Jonesboro, advised Hogansville Police Chief Jeff Sheppard.
“When he went to inspect the tools, they pulled a gun, held him at gunpoint and robbed him of his money. Then they took off from Love’s heading south on the interstate,” Sheppard said.
The victim then followed and called 911. Sheppard said it was out of their jurisdiction at that point, so they notified the Troup County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies located the suspect vehicle and gave chase. The suspects ended up heading north on Interstate 185, where the vehicle was stopped using a PIT maneuver.
Two individuals fled the vehicle on foot and the driver was arrested. The suspects on foot have not been located according to Sheppard.
The driver is currently in custody of the Troup County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators are currently working on charges at this time.
More information will be provided as it becomes available.
