The Troup Tigers got their first win of the Jairo Gay era as they escaped Greenville with a 67-63 win.

Troup got off to a hot start, leading by five after the first quarter and expanding that lead up to 38-25. Greenville came storming back in the second half, but the Tigers were able to keep them at bay and get their first win of the season.

Desmon Cunningham led the Tigers with 17 points. Dee Moreland had 15 and Deo’Vion Tucker had 12. The three double-digit scorers powered Troup to the win. Jalen Brown and Jay Johnson chipped in with eight and seven points.

The Tigers avenged a close opening night victory on their home court by giving the Patriots their first loss of the season.

Kemen Robertson scored a game high 19 points for the Patriots.

Troup will be back on the court on Monday as the Lanett Panthers come to town.
