Troup bounces back with big home win over Valley

The Troup girls bounced back after a tough loss last time out with a 58-21 win over Valley.

The Tigers absolutely dominated the opening quarter with their defense and took a 10-0 lead after the opening eight minutes of play. 

The Rams cut the lead down to as low as five points, but the Tigers kept their foes at bay. Troup was able to get its lead back up to double figures heading into the halftime break. 

The Tigers put the game to bed in the third quarter. Alexcia Murphy dominated with 10 of her 24 points in the quarter. The game was long over by the fourth quarter as the Tigers closed out the game in style. 

Sheniyah Philpot was another key contributor for the Tigers, scoring 15 points. 

Darcee Wright was the long bright spot for the Rams with 12 points. No other Valley player had more than four points. 

Valley falls to 1-4 on the season and will travel to play Callaway on Saturday. 

Troup improved to 4-1 overall and will be back on the court Tuesday against Harris County.
