Cavalier attitude.

The Callaway girls basketball team tipped off its home schedule for 2022-23 in style with a dominant 53-14 win over Redan on Friday night.

The Raiders were late to arrive and the game started 40 minutes later than the scheduled time, but it did little to disrupt the Cavaliers flow.

Callaway was locked in defensively and after allowing eight points in the first quarter, the Cavaliers held the Raiders to just six points over the final 24 minutes of play.

The second half was a breeze as the Cavaliers 30-point lead at halftime triggered a running clock.

Callaway also got a ton of production offensively from its core players. Lacey Thomas scored 14 points and dominated on the block. Jailyn Baker and Raniya Mahone tied for second on the team with 12 points while Keiyunna Maddox added 11 points.

The Cavaliers have gotten off to a hot start to the season, winning both of their first two games to start 2-0 overall and 2-0 in region play. Callaway will be back on the court on Saturday against Valley (AL) at home.
