The Callaway boys basketball team suffered its first region loss of the year with a 48-34 loss to Landmark Christian on Friday.

The Cavaliers actually jumped out to an early lead, dominating the first quarter with their defense. Callaway led 11-4 after the first quarter.

From there, the Callaway offense struggled to manufacture points the rest of the way, scoring in single digits in the final three quarters of play.

The Cavaliers were still able to take a 20-14 lead into halftime. The War Eagles came out storming in the third quarter, scoring 21 points. With the game tied at 27 late in the third quarter, Landmark went on an 8-0 run to close the quarter and snatch momentum away.

The Cavaliers could not find a way back into the game despite leading early.

Callaway falls to 3-2 overall and 3-1 in region play. The Cavaliers return to the court on Saturday against Troup.
