The LaGrange girls basketball team traveled to Woodward Academy on Friday to take on Cedar Grove and returned to Troup County with a hard fought 53-26 victory.

The Grangers struggled early, only scoring five points in the first quarter as they trailed by six after the opening eight minutes. From there, it was an onslaught of Granger buckets.

LaGrange was able to cut the lead to just one point at the break and used a second half surge to overwhelm Cedar Grove.

Peyton Swint scored nine of her team high 13 points in the second half to help lead the charge offensively. Ta’Niya Taylor spread her timely offense and finished the game with 11 points. Corriah Williams scored five of her 10 points in the fourth quarter to close out Cedar Grove.

LaGrange improves to 3-6 on the season but are 3-2 in the last five games. The Grangers return to Woodward Academy on Saturday to take on Tri-Cities at 1 p.m.
