The Troup girls basketball team returned to the court for the first time since Dec. 22 on Wednesday when they lost 55-49 to Alexander.

The Tigers third straight loss of the season drops them to 4-4, the first time this season they have dipped to .500 or below.

Troup got out to a good start as the offense poured it on in the first quarter, outscoring Alexander 20-17 in the opening eight minutes of play. Alexcia Murphy led the charge and scored 10 of her game high 21 points in the first quarter.

The Tigers offense hit a massive slump in the second quarter, scoring just five points as Alexander was able to take a 28-25 lead into the break. Troup kept the game within arms reach but could never quite get back on top.

Sheniyah Philpot scored 13 points and Raygen Godfrey scored 10 to help lead the way for the Tigers.

This was the first of three games the Tigers will play in the Heard County Holiday Classic. The Tigers will be right back in action on Thursday against KIPP Atlanta Collegiate.
