The Troup girls basketball team halted a four game skid with 68-61 win over Charlton County on Friday.
Alexcia Murphy went to work with 34 points in the game, dominating in the paint.
The Tigers got off to a hot start with 22 points in the first quarter and never looked back even as the Maidens fought to get a foothold in the game. Troup led by double digits after the opening eight minutes, but the Maidens were able to chip into the lead and only trailed by six at halftime. Murphy took over with 22 points in the second half as the Tigers kept the Maidens at bay.
Sheniyah Philpot quietly put together a good game and helped initiate the offense, finishing with 14 points.
Troup improved to 5-5 on the season and just wrapped up playing three games in three days. The Tigers will start region play on Jan. 6 against Starr’s Mill.
