Benjamin “Ben” Jackson Kennedy, (34), passed away on Dec. 29, 2022, in LaGrange, Georgia. He was born in Valley, Alabama, on April 21, 1988, to Tod Alan Kennedy and Jackie Smith Kennedy.
Ben was raised in LaGrange and graduated from Troup County Comprehensive High School in 2006. He attended college, worked a variety of jobs, and was an exceptionally skilled welder.
He spent a year working for a CSX contractor as a railroad grinder, an adventure that took him through the rugged wilderness and inner cities of much of America.
A homebody at heart, he returned to LaGrange and prayed that God lead him to a good woman. In 2015, he was reacquainted with a high school crush who became the love of his life. He considered it the answer to prayer.
He worked the past eight years at Duracell in LaGrange where he was an Industrial Technician. He was known for attention to detail and a great work ethic, as well as pulling practical jokes and telling great stories. He loved to make others laugh and was generous to a fault.
Like his grandfather Jack Smith, his favorite place to be was in the hayfield.
Along with his parents, survivors include his wife, Amanda Deanne Mallory Kennedy; daughter, Avery Ruth Kennedy; brother, Daniel “Danny” Kennedy; sister, Rachel Kennedy; grandmother, Myrna Kennedy; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Anita and Terry Woodham; sister-in-law, Ashley Mallory; aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank Kennedy and Jack and Elaine Smith, and his father-in-law, Dean Mallory.
The family will have visitation on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023, at Pleasant Grove Community Church from Noon until 2 P.M.
The funeral will begin at 2 P.M., followed by burial at Talley Cemetery on Salem Road in LaGrange.
Pastor Jimmy McMillian and Pastor Steve Evans will officiate the service.
