Troup girls could not get much going in a 70-46 loss to region leader Trinity Christian on Friday.

The Tigers were locked into battle with the Lions early, but let the game slip away late.

Troup gave just as much as they took in the first quarter, only trailing by three at the end of the opening eight minutes. The Tigers deficit swelled up to eight heading into the halftime break, but the Tigers were still in the game.

Unfortunately, for Troup, the third quarter proved to be the Tigers undoing. The Tigers limited the Lions to just 13 points but could only muster eight of their own as their double figure deficit heading into the fourth quarter was too large for the away team to mount a comeback.

Freshman Sheniyah Philpot led the Tigers with 13 points while Alexia Murphy and Reagan Godfrey scored 10 each.

The Tigers had no answer for Madison Morge, who connected on 10 3-pointers en route to 33 points for the Lions.

Troup fell to 7-8 overall and 2-3 in region play. The Tigers will be back on the court when they host Riverdale on Saturday.
