Troup let an early lead slip in a 51-34 region loss to Fayette County on Thursday.
The Tigers jumped on Fayette County early and took a 10-5 lead after the first quarter. The Tiger defense started out dominant and played well enough to win over the remaining three quarters but the offense faltered.
The Tigers could only muster four points in the second quarter which allowed Fayette County to capture the lead late in the second quarter and never looked back. By the end of the third quarter the Tigers trailed by 18 points and could find no way back in the game in the fourth.
Angie Dowdell finished as the team’s leading scorer with 13 points while Alexcia Murphy was kept quiet with only 11 points. Autumn Bulloch finished the game with five points while Raygen Godfrey scored four and Nasha Daniel scored a point to round out the scoring for the Tigers.
Troup fell to 8-10 overall and 3-5 in region play. The Tigers now sit seventh in the standings. Troup will look to get back to winning ways on Friday when the Tigers host North Clayton in a big region clash.
