Troup jumped out to an early lead on the road to Riverdale on Friday and never looked back in a 52-40 region victory.
The Tigers defense was stifling to start and limited Riverdale to only one point in the first quarter, which allowed Troup to take a 10-1 lead after the opening quarter. Both offenses sprung to life in the second quarter, but the Tigers were able to stay out in front by outsourcing Riverdale 20-17 to take a 12-point lead into the halftime break.
The Tigers second quarter surge was led by Angie Dowdell and Alexcia Murphy, who scored seven points apiece in the quarter. Dowdell finished as the Tigers leading scorer with 16 points while Murphy was second on the team with 14 points.
Troup controlled the second half and never allowed Riverdale to get back into the game.
The team closed out the game with Sheniyah Philpot scoring seven of her 12 points in the fourth quarter to lead the way. Raygen Godfrey scored 10 points to round out the scoring for the Tigers.
Troup got back above .500 overall and in the region (11-10, 6-5). The Tigers have three more games in the regular season with Trinity Christian at home on Saturday next on the docket.
