Teen in critical condition after being shot on Saturday

A 15-year-old male juvenile is in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta after being shot on Saturday night.

According to the LaGrange Police Department, the undisclosed juvenile was shot at 804 Whitesville Rd. Police were initially called to the 200 block of Handley St. around 7:47 p.m. Saturday about a subject that had been shot.  Officers later arrived and located the juvenile victim on Habersham Drive with a single gunshot wound in his back.

Police began medical treatment and the victim was taken to the WellStar West Georgia Medical Center but was later transferred to Grady.

LaGrange Police Sgt. Brian Brown said that the victim is still in critical condition as of Sunday night.

No suspects or potential motives for the shooting have been identified at this time.

This incident is still under active investigation by the LaGrange Police Department Criminal Investigations Section.

According to Brown, the department is currently working to identify and speak with witnesses to the shooting. Brown said the juvenile is believed to have been hanging out outside a store at the plaza when the shooting occurred.
